No, we’re not a booking agency, nor do we have any desire to book clubs and tours. But given our mission to raise the profile of original music artists in the community, it’s not surprising that we already get a lot of calls from organizations and individuals looking for bands. So when that phone rings, we answer, and do our level best to connect the people we work for (bands!) with the people we work with (companies, community organizations and institutions). This has been a surprisingly strong area since our launch, so we’re trying to merge these opportunities with our business plan.
Live performance is the foundation that enables artists to transition to a musical career. Most bands can manage club bookings, and even short tours, but they’re rarely in the loop for major events, especially those driven by business or big institutions. As a result, those opportunities often go to cover bands, even when original music is a better match for the event. So The All Night Party is stepping up to make that case. In our first month of full operation, we’ve booked original bands for a festival Cincinnati Museum Center and The Cincinnati Art Museum. Over the coming year, we’re going to push things into neighborhoods and communities, to introduce kids too young for bar hopping to local stars – it’s never too early to start shaping tastes, and introducing people to new sounds.
These shows aren’t for every band. Most are family-friendly events, with large, general audiences. They require a level of professionalism and experience too – it helps if you’ve played festivals or large stages, and professionally produced one-sheets, band photos, and the usual advance materials (input lists and stage plots) are required.
